NSI certs

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is it mandatory to issue an NSI cert on a take-over once the system checks out ok & becomes under your company banner (maintenance contract)? Or if any modifications/extensions to systems are made does a cert get reissued?

Kind Regards,

If it was a takeover of system installed by another NSI co then it should already have one. If the customer requires an NSI cert for their insurance then you should issue one but you can charge for it. If it is not a customer requirement you can just maintain it without certification. The sames as you can service an automated gate without NSI certification.

Thanks,

How about a system that has had minor works carried out? The original system holds an NSI cert, does a new one need to be reissued for the minor works?

Unless your changing the grade, and the insurance co requires it then again no need. If we installed a system to 4737 ten/twenty years ago and then upgraded the panel, we would prog the panel to 4737, and not reissue. However, if it was due to loss of Police response we would have to upgrade accordingly and reissue a new cert.
