Hi all

I installed a speech dialler in a house a couple of days ago and everything was ok exept when the customer phones his home number or anyone else does the phone rings constant when you are calling you hear the ringing in the phone but his home number rings constant.

He only has 2 phones in his house and they both do it

Please help

check the wiring to the phone points, when you have connected the dialler up you may have crossed the wiring or got a short, if you need the connections or colour code info for the phone socket or dialler let me know

Start with the first socket, check and add the extensions until you found which is at fault.

Never be afraid to check your own work, mistakes are so easy to make.

Had a similar problem in my house, just a bad connection at a socket.

1 green/white

2 blue/white

3 orange/white

4 white/orange

5 white/blue

6 white/green

if i remember rightly speach dialler only needs two wires, a and b which are connected to pins 2 and 5, possibly a third connection, if so pin 3, long time since i have wired one up so cant remember of top of my head. any probs i will dig manual out

The BT cable is thin and grey it also has a solid colours i can remember seeing a brown wire.

oh you mean the cable that came with the sd1? did it have a plug on the end? will dig manual out

No the cable that is coming into his home from BT its not from the dialler. Its a very old house and i think he has lived there for years
