Adding Second Keypad To Scantronic 9651 And 9930

Recommended Posts

Hi

I need advice on installing a second keypad to an existing wired alarm system.

We’ve had an extension build, and the front door has moved.  I want a second keypad near the new front door.

My system is a Scantronic 9651, with an existing 9930 keypad.

I have 2 questions:

1)   I am planning to buy a 9941 keypad (as 9930 is obsolete) – will this work on the same circuit as the 9930?

2)   How do I wire it in?  Do I just connect the second (new) keypad up to exactly the same inputs on the 9651 board as the existing keypad?  Or is it more complex than that?

Thanks

Phil

Yes and Yes. Make sure new keypad is set to address 2. Don't have any power on whilst doing it.

If you haven't changed the battery in the system box for 4 years, do it at the same time.

Remember electricity can kill.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Many thanks for the advice.  Very helpful.

The battery was changed last year - I've had experience of a 7 year old battery failing (previous house/alarm system).  So I change it every few years now.

And yes, new front door is covered - I moved the sensor from what had become an enclosed room.
