Accenta8 - keypads not working

Featured Replies

There are 2 remote keypads connected to my Accenta 8 alarm system and both of them appear not to be working. They are not working in that none of the red lights on the keypads are lit and do not make a noise when you press the buttons. The backlight is on however.

I have done some tests and there is power to the accenta 8 and all fuses are ok. I have tested one of the keypads and it does have a power supply.

I would also add that the power supply to the house has been turned off at the mains several times for short periods whilst some electrical work has been done and the alarm has possibly stopped working during this period.

Any help appreciated.

THE KEYPADS LOCK OUT WHENEVER THERE IS A TAMPER FAULT OR PA BUTTON PRESSED - CHECK THESE FIRST

Any comments / opinions posted are my opinion only and do not represent those of my employer or Company

When the power went off, did the alarm stay powered or did it power down?

i'm not sure, i didn't notice the problem until later when the power was back on.

How do you unlock them?

You mean you have not got the key!!

...Clear the tamper fault, or restet the pa and the RKP will begin to function again.

Would a tamper fault be caused by the mains supply going off?

The power was switched off for about an hour and the battery in the unit has never been changed and is now about 7 years old. Could this generate a tamper fault?

Do I have to clear the tamper fault before i can reset the system

cheers

If the battery is faulty the control may have locked out on power up, I would suggest a full service but you could install a new battery and do a warm start. But if the battery charging circuit is also down (due to trying to charge an old 'dry' battery) you may need a new control unit.

Post your location on here, Im sure someone will help.
