Best Van

Recommended Posts

Clearly paying yourself too much.

Got the option of both and to be honest, i prefer using the van.

I would if i was doing alot on the tools. I enjoy doing more but i don't have the time, i had to get the extension ladders out of stores for the first time in over 12 months last week as i'm the only one local at the min. I tend to just do faults ect.

We have 2 Ford Connects and although the alternators have been replaced on both, they have been good vans.

Both done over 80k so will be looking soon to replace. Might go for a Vivaro and a Astra next?

Alternator & Turbo on the one I'm selling, 56 reg 58000 miles. Worst thing about them is that gearbox thrash noise, they sound like tanks.

Caddy maxi looks like the best bet to me, might just contract hire this time as they offer free servicing for 3 years/30,000 miles at £209 a month.

We have Caddy's and the bigger Transporters at work. The guys with the caddy's thing they are okay but complain they are smaller in the back than the Connect's they used to have. Same can be said for the Transporter I have. I would much prefer to have my Transit back. More space and a far better drive than the VW vans. A car would be even better but sadly thats not an option

We have Astra estates. Can't fault them TBH. We have a 2.5 litre VW Transporter for any big jobs and to tow the MEWP if its needed.

To be fair we have the bottom of the range Transporters. Manual windows, no armrests :ranting: they don't even have a temp gauge! I drove a hired Transporter minibus for a weekend and it was a world away from my van. I'm guessing that was a 2.5 as it was considerably quicker than my van, even when its empty. I do still prefer the Fords though. They have reverted to the Transits at our place now but I don't have one....Yet!

Oddly enough GMP went through a VW phase at the time as we got our vans and they have gone back to Ford too. My guess was VW must have been offering some VERY good fleet deals at the time that Ford couldn't match.

Deals?

You mean like Ford must be doing now?

I too drive a Transporter, can't fault it, also find it far better than the tranny.
