Replacing Control Panel Only With Pd6662

Featured Replies

Just a quick question

If I want to upgrade my wired system to a Galaxy G2-20 but keep all my existing sensors.

Just add two more PIR wireless sensors, a smoke detector and replace the siren.

Would the system be considered for police response(ie PD6662 compliant) or do i have to replace all existing PIRs & door contacts for it to qualify?

Thank you

you would have to replace all non graded equipment. If the sensors have been graded (ie comply to en50131) then they wont need replacing. If they dont then as they no longer comply to current regs they will.

I think you may also be missing something vital. The only way to have a pg6662 en50131 system to grade whatever is if its installed and certified by an approved company.

It is my intention to have it installed by an approved company, i was just thinking it would be a waste to throw out my existing sensors, as they are working fine.

Are you saying, if the company does not replace all my sensors (PIR & door contacts) it wouldn't issue a Certificate of Conformity?

yes thats what im saying. It cant as the complied (i assume) to the old reg ie bs4737. If they are no longer in production then its highly unlickly the comply to the new reg. Each component has to comply for them to be able to issue a cert.

How about using my existing cables/wires & replacing all sensors as well as the panel & siren. Would using existing cables prevent the issue of a certificate of conformity?

No assuming the cabling is installed in a complaint manner then the reg for cabling hasnt changed so your cable shouldf be fine. All equipment however will need to be repolaced with graded items
