cctvmaker
house and car installations may differ in voltage , wiring and some other parameters..so mobile DVR distributors and installers should have some specializations in car and automotive applications
TimPickles
Beware, this is a minefield. Sounds simple doesn't it? Straightforward 12v DVR, could of cameras.....But I have good experience trying to get the kit to work on some school buses. Top tips are to look for are: 1. A removeable hard drive cradle for remote viewing 2. Very good rubber vibration mounts for the main DVR 3. The electrics are everything here. You need a delayed start and stop on the HDD's to ensure there are no issue when starting/stopping the ignition. A wide voltage tolerence is also important - remember, some vehicles have 24v. 4. Use good cameras !!! Cheap units from China are rubbish if the voltage is anything other than perfect. 5. Offer customer option of audio. Really popular on public vehicles for just the cost of a microphone. 6. Try and get the GPS enabled DVR's like I used. These give excellant feedback to the customer - speed, position etc. 7. My DVR also had inputs from brake lights and indicators - customer thought this was fantastic. Tim Pickles
