Help!! Optimax XM6

Featured Replies

Help please. I have an Optimax XM6 system, and recently suffered a power cut The outside bell went off for, as I believe the rechargeable battery requires changing, but when power was restored, I cannot reset the system at all. I have two zone alarms and the keypad does not respond at all.

Any help appreciated. ;)

Hi ,

First , remove the mains supply (spur or fuse) the outside bell should now ring if your back-up is dead. Then open the cover and remove a battery connecter (red or black spade connecter) then apply mains power , the panel should fire up , try your code , if this doesnt work try 0123 (default). This should cure it , if not try the small fuses inside the panel.

Also , be safe , 240v can kill.

Good luck.

Befor you go and buy a new battery check to see if the charging resistor looks ok, If the battery has been faulty for some time it normally burns this out.

You will find this behind the keypad if you look below and up by the keypad you will see the resistor, it is about 10mm long by about 4mm wide if it looks burned cracked or flaking, Then don,t bother replacing the battery as it is a waste of time as the panel is on the way out.

Sorry to tell you this but I have seen this on loads of these panels. (I hope its not!)

That Resistor is bigger than that, its at least 20mm by 6mm.

But your right regarding the charging circuit when a duff battery has been left in too long.
