Diy Pc Based Cctv/ccdp

Featured Replies

Alrite folks,

Looking to build a Windows PC system to monitor the area around my house. After having a look at Wikipedia, the idea of closed circuit digital photography interests me.

Want to install cameras in the front of the house to view 180 degrees and 10 metres from perimeter of small driveway.

Purpose of the system is to capture the images of the ******** who are throwing stones, etc at my house. So live monitoring isn't really necessary.

Night capture is required as the winter is approaching, so would like to see faces when its dark. There is a lamppost outside the front of my house.

I would like to go down the CCCP route, but if it isn't too good for the dark then I've got to go CCTV I guess.

Thanks

Wasabi

you will need some very high res cameras and as you note they will probably be very poor at night without some form of lighting. Also your looking at pretty specilised recorders.
