Hi,

Is there anyway of switching the Colour/Mono function by an external source, reason being there is some light in the picture that is stopping the camera switching?

cheers Kev

Hi,

Yes, but it would not be that easy as it does not have a external trigger for the switching (unlike the shc 730 which does).

You can control all the menu functions on the camera via rs232, so it is possible to set the switching of the IR cut filter by sending the right sequence of 'button' presses into the remote jack on the back.

Its standard serial comms, but you would need it and a sensor rigged up to a laptop, or a pc, or best a custom circuit with a light sensor that sends the codes when the light hits the right level (a PIC chip could do it, but would involve design of the circuit, and programming, so not that easy really).

OR you could try this tech tip from norbain

norbain tech tip for sdn520

which sounds like it may fix the problem in the first place.
