Accenta 8 Tamper Light

Featured Replies

We have an Accenta 8 and the power, day and tamper lights are on. The keypads aren't responding to numbers or reset. Hubby is now working away so I want to set it at night, but can't reset the tamper button - any ideas? - I can't see anything to help in the manual I have.

Hi kathb,

The tamper light means one of the (potentially many) protection circuits (designed to prevent tampering with the system) has detected something amiss. This will lock up the system until it's found and rectified.

Ideally contact whoever installed the system to look into this for you. If it's on a maintenance contract contact that company, or if not a local alarm company (get a few quotes/prices before proceeding).

It sounds like you don't have the engineering manuals so not something to attempt yourself!

When was the battery backup changed in the panel?

It could be that or mostly the external sounder is at fault!

I would call and engineer.

Thank you.

I think I've found the culprit!

We did have a new kitchen last year, knocking 2 rooms that were alarmed in to one. One of the sensors that's now hidden on top of the cupboards (thankfully hubby hasn't got around to boarding that bit up yet) has the closing screw missing. I've fastened the bits together now and the alarm seems to be working ok. Is it easy to remove this one from the system as it's no longer required or better to just leave it out of the way somewhere - we would be able to get to it after the boarding up without too much difficult if needed.

Now I've just got to go through the programme 3 bit to see if I can create an upstairs and a downstairs zone.....

Many thanks for your help

it is a very simple job for an engineer to remove, do not box it in as if you have problems you can't get back to it.

best for now if you leave it exposed until hubby returns, then with a bit of looking at the terminals and some common sense he should be able to disconnect it, but we can't advise you exactly how for (i hope) obvious reasons.
