Veritas 8 Power Query

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I've just registered here in the hope someone might be able to help with me a query regarding my Veritas 8 alarm.

This morning, the fuse for my lights at home blew.

I turned off the power for everything at the mains while I removed the blown fuse.

When I switched the power back on at the mains everything worked okay - plug sockets, oven etc - except for my alarm. The power light on the alarm panel is flashing on and off and I was unable to set the alarm on Full as I left the house.

The battery in the alarm is a couple of years old.

I'm unsure what to do next - any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks in advance.

Hi ,

The green flashing light indicates a power supply problem , so either the mains to the panel is missing , or more likely the battery has run down and the panel is indicating this as a problem. You may find that the light will stop flashing soon , but it may be wise to get it checked out and possibly a new battery fitted.

Regards.

Deffo a problem with the supply, When did you last have your alarm serviced?

The alarm was last serviced about two years ago.

Thanks for your suggestions with this, it really is much appreciated. I will try and pick up a new battery later today and see if that solves the problem.

Fastcar - if it was a problem with the mains to the panel, would this be solved by fitting a new fuse in my fusebox or would I need to address something within the panel itself?

There should be a fused spur close to the alarm panel with a 3amp fuse , there is also a fuse within the panel at the incoming connector block.

Be careful around hazardous voltages ..if in doubt , get an engineer to check it out.

Thats definately a knackered battery. Had it many times.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Thanks for all the suggestions - I've rewired the fuse in the mains box and fitted a new battery inside the panel and we now have power back.

Since restoring power, though, the Tamper light is permanently lit - can anyone suggest how to remedy this?

Make sure the panel lid is on properly , you should hear the spring click , then press RESET.

Had a similar problem, when I investigated found the panel mains block was damaged, bloody takeovers lol
