April 4, 200818 yr comment_194309 Hi all, I've just bought a 500GB disk to replace my 80Gb. DM make 320GB (and higher on newer models) versions of their DS2 units, and people have claimed they can put two 500GB drives, but I've heard the drives are formatted using FAT32. I understand that there is an approx 128mb partition limit using FAT32 (on a W2K box). So my questions are: Can you use Windows to format the drive? How do you format it (partition size, format type etc)? And does the DS2 OS read multiple partitions as one partition if there is a limit on partition size? (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not) Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/22811-formatting-500gb-hard-drive-for-ds2-old/#findComment-194319 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 April 4, 200818 yr Author comment_194328 use this I've just read your message, but I already worked it out using that program! I actually used a Windows ME boot disk to create the 470GB partition, then I booted the disk back into Win XP and used fat32format to finish it off to Fat32 - I probably didn't need to do the first step, but I was in the middle of doing that before I discovered fat32format. Great program, thanks for your suggestion Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/22811-formatting-500gb-hard-drive-for-ds2-old/#findComment-194328 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
