Oh dear.

Single wire returns on the smoke/PIR detector? Yes that is quite common on the cheap jobs. Rip it all out and start again! The bottom picture looks like a Visonic of some kind... not bad but not great...

Arf - you ever seen a scanner like that ? - whats it look like with the cover on ?

Think thats the combined smoke / pir , by A1 , so it must be 10 years old at least.

Normally every powered device would have its own cable from the power source.

24 j/b's / latching vipers (or dt's /pirs ect...) iD loops all multi sensor of one source of power
