October 8, 200718 yr comment_180639 Hopefully a simple but silly question. I need to refit a surface mount rectangular magnetic sensor to a garage door that has just been replaced. Before the old door was removed I took off the magnet and sensor, leaving all the wiring intact (it runs to a small junction box type thing). Now the silly bit - I carefully remembered that the sensor was fitted with the wire running up into it when fitted - what I didn't realise is the screw holes are countersunk on both sides so either side could potentially face the magnet. Both the magnet and sensor have a pair of screw holes offset to one side (the opposite side to the wire entry on the sensor). I'm assuming the actual magnet/sensor themselves are the opposite side to the screw holes - i.e. when fitted the sensor which is mounted on the left has its screw holes offset to the left, and the magnet which is mounted on the right has its holes offset to the right. Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance for any replies. October 9, 200718 yr Author comment_180653 Thanks for the quick reply - was just worried that one way might be stronger than the other, and if I got them both the wrong way round I might be more likely to have intermittent false alarms. I will be mounting both quite close together, and will definitely do a walk test. October 9, 200718 yr comment_180667 If my memory serves me correctly, screw holes furthest away from the opening, that goes for reed and magnet.
