One last thing though, is the Gardtec 490x unit and RKP easy to install for a person that has basic alarm understanding (myself). This will be good in the short term future as the keypad on the Optima is beginning to fall apart! I like the idea of the highly configurable feature set on the 490x.

to put it bluntly - no

what I really mean is although the panel can be found out in the public arena through third party re-sellars it was designed and developed as a trade fit unit.

anything we do is only connecting by numbers at the end of the day so with enough time and using trial and error you could get a working system - but not as quickly or neatly as a pro fit and deffo not insured against failure , bad advice or negligance
