Someone I thought posted that you should install a copy of Windows on the new disk (initially on its own), but I can't see that comment now.

Anyway, it's a good idea if you know how to do it, even better if you know how to set up a "dual-boot" system once you've done it (research boot.ini). But only for the very IT-literate which, given your problem, I'm politely guessing you're not :whistle:

If the BIOS supports a 250GB drive it's probably not old enough for the battery to have expired. :P
