Re-program Ts690 For Batt Flt

Featured Replies

My Menvier TS690 system annoyingly activates the external sounder if BATT FLT occurs when the alarm is set.

A mains power interruption will cause the battery to fall below threshold voltage.......

The lead acid battery condition is poor and will be replaced in the next day or two (on order).

As a general issue can the system be re-programmed so that if BATT FLT occurs when the alarm is set, then external sounder is not activated - with alternative result ?

How many hours should a good condition battery maintain healthly alarm set mode when the mains power is off. 4 wired PIR's, 3 kepads & 3 door CC's

Thanks for the advice

the alarm activating is a consequence of the bad battery and so you cannot alter the programming deal with the fault first

TS 690 good panel we always fit 7.00 amp batt with the load you have a new batt would last 24h or more should change batt every 5 years or test each service with ACT bat tester and will tell you when to change (we had a 9800 6ah at that time yuasa last 11 years till failed

Slightly off topic but why is a battary in a FA panel to be changed every 4-years under BS5839 but the same battery fitted in intruder alarms get's advised replaced anywhere from 3-5 years?

Is it because the standby time on FA's is longer and they are life saving as opposed to property saving?

Unlike the Scantronics, a TS690 will operate completely normally without a battery at all.

Whilst you can't reprogram the 690 to ignore batt faults (or any ither kind of fault except phone line), I'm pretty sure that there is a relay made by ACT that disconnects the batt when the voltage drops below a certain point. Because the 690 doesn't need the battery, it shouldn't read it as a fault.

The downside is that you would have to rig up some kind of input/output to an led or something; or get the relay to trigger a battery fault pin on a communicator, otherwise you'd never know the batt is off.

Bear in mind that Tunstall panels are notoriously fickle with voltage regulator problems connected to either battery or psu faults and that they can easily take the board out, beyond repair - sometimes even from putting the battery leads the wrong way round.

batteries are the ban of my life and this o/p needs to change his as soon as possible

if the system is set and a battery is duff ( or removed ) and the 240v ac supply fails for any period the panel voltage will drop below the minimum req for the relevant detectors and open the relay causing a false alarm just as this o/p described

the act relay is a handy bit of kit as it stops a deep discharge of the battery which can sometimes destroy them
