Is it possible to change door mounted allarm contacts in a wooden door for surface mounted cntacts on a replacement UPVC Door

Yes

You can still mount flush contacts in UPVC doors, just ask the door fitter to run rhe cable into the frame and drill a 20mm hole where its to be mounted.
