Damien White Honeywell Security

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My name is Damien White and i work for honeywell security ( formerly ademco ). I am a technical sales representative. I have installed alarms for about 8 years and now only sell and advise on a wholesale level with the odd weekend job for extra money every now and again.

I have joined this forum to see how things operate in the UK and what type of equipment you use. feel free to say hello and what kind of alarms or access control you use.

P.S. I think i have one of the best jobs in security. I get to play with all new stuff without having to climb up ladders and crawl through the roof.

I also think that winpac is the best.

Just goes to show how things work in opposites - over here the Honeywell support work at the odd weekend and appear to be doing other things at all other times ... or maybe the phones just don't work!

Being someone who goes out on site when there are problems i get to see first hand any problems with tech support. All of my personnal customers are aware that my phone is on 24 hours a day if they need any tech support. (i am a salesmen but it helps that i was a tech in the past). I have dealt with alot of different companies tech support lines over the years and have found them on a whole not to be as helpful as i would have liked. I think the main problem is that they have not had the experience of standing in front of a angry customer who wants to know why you cant fix his equipment because tech support either dont answer your call or they are not experienced enough to help you.

I really think that the tech support guys should have to go out to site on a regular basis to remind them of the situation that the people who are calling them are actually in.

Dave, The 1 hour install name is a bit of a joke over here. We have alot of guys who think they are good because they can install an alarm in about 2 hours. I get to see alot of these jobs and they are a joke. I would hardly call them installed, they are just thrown in. You quite often see the control panel in a shop installed just next to the front door with the codepad screwed to the front of it and the detector just above.

Oh god, my aussie sis in laws about to go back and another one turns up here, aggggggggggggggggggggggggggg :P

Welcome, hope you enjoy our madness.

cheers
