I've had a Gardtec 593 panel installed for the past 3 months whilst i'm renovating my property. The plasterers however seem to have inadvertently left the mains power off for a week. (Property empty) On switch on, the Aux 12v fuse has blown. Is this common? I also have a gardtec speech dialler connected.

This is because the battery has been deep discharged and the initial start up current on the system exceded the fuse rating, It can sometimes damage the battery as well.

Contact your installer and ask them to check the battery over for you and replace the fuse.

although i'm not a certified installer i am an electronic engineer. I checked all the circuits and replaced the fuse and it seems to work fine now. I wondered if it was a common fault on total discharge to blow the Aux circuit. If so that's not a well designed system at all but would answer my question thanks. Damn stupid platerers!

As I remember correctly, that panel shares the aux fuse with the battery charging cct, I'd check the batt is charging and also it's voltage when it's had chance to charge up .

Bear in mind the later 593\595 has an inline fuse in the battery +ve lead.

i would strongly advise a service visit by your installer, the plasteres use troughs which become razor sharp in use. if they 'knick' the wiring accidentally that can blow the fuse at the time, but the problem is they often cause 'creeping' corrosion and later false alarms as the cut exposes the copper strands to the atmosphere, and the constituants in the plaster also cause copper to corrode, you will have great problems claiming the damge is down to the plasterers some 12 months later.
