June 28, 200619 yr comment_105017 I have recently moved into a new house and an optima XM alarm is installed. The previous owner ordered a new battery as she was informed that the reason why the alrm was not working was because the battery was dead. I have replaced the battery in accordance with the owners manual but the tamper light is still lit and the keypad is not responding. Within the 'faults' section of the owners manual it states that 'if a tamper or PA fault is present on the system the panel will go to lock out condition and show tamper. The keypad will not operate or produce any audible response.' Is there a simple way to clear the tamper or PA fault? Thanks for replying Yes the tamper light was lit before the battery was replaced and the previous owner was told that a new battery would solve the problem. June 28, 200619 yr comment_105022 Thanks for replyingYes the tamper light was lit before the battery was replaced and the previous owner was told that a new battery would solve the problem. Anders The battery was not the problem - there is a fault in the tamper circuits somewhere. Tamper circuits are found throughout the system, inside the control panel, cabling to bellbox, detectors etc - if you are handy with a multimeter it should be easy to track down which cable has the fault and then where the fault is. (See the caution in my sig!). If you are not handy with a multimeter then you will require the assistance of an installer - you are not going to fix it by pressing buttons.
