'Anti-Code' Opinions
Ha, how did you know it is under the stairs? All dying together because of the Paragon, has anyone ever come across a panel which has caught fire? Well, last time we had a power cut, it lasted for the full two hours. 4 PIRs, and an SAB. Ha, I've seen those MTA Systems videos on YouTube, funny.I didn't realise the Paragon was such a hated panel.

I would do, but my parents would never let me do that, they never even use the thing. They don't care, that is why the battery is still the original to the panel too. It'll take a fire or something terrible like that to make them change it.

Funny you should say that, the transformer in ours was burning hot! I was shocked, it was really hot! I must be mad, since I quite like it in a way, but wish something easier to use like an Optima was in there.

You should go and get it, I'd buy the Paragon from you, great little panels, they have a job to do, and they do it well. Fair enough. When I was younger I hated the interruption tone it made. Sounds like a buzzing... thing!

May be horrible, which they are. Nasty sounds they make, and very hard to program, but they work, as you say. What don't you like about them?

Hey, that alarm is brilliant, very reliable. What do you recommend I replace it with, then? Its not knaked, that's for sure!

Love some of these replies. For anyone interested, or Paragon plus with the cover removed for the first time in 24 years. Original battery there, still works somehow. Can anyone tell what terminals are linked out?

Okay, fair enough. However, if the company who originally installed it have gone bust, it may require defaulting the panel.

I actually never thought of it like that. Good description, you should pin it to the top, so people can see why an anti-code would be used. I guess it could still be troublesome, if you just wanted to change the battery. Does your company use anti-codes? I think Google need to do something about the forum, with no rules. I am pretty sure giving out default info should be banned. DIY NOT don't. thanks for the reply, I have learned something new

Well, the option is there, I don't even see the point of it.

I thought it might be, but its not fair if the customer needs to open the alarm cover for whatever reason, then it locks out, especially if the company have gone out of business who installed the alarm.

What are your opinions as security engineers on the 'anti-code'? I believe that it is the same as 'Engineer reset on tamper. I bet it isn't popular with customers. If it is even used by anyone. (Extract taken from Accenta 8 instructions)

How an alarm works
Quick picture I made, explaining how a - VE trigger alarm works. All new panels use Mosfet transistors, instead of relays. I believe that on some even more modern panels, the switching is done through the microprocessor, instead of the transistors.

Accenta or Veritas
Well, it is still a clever feature, I only really like ADE alarms because they're simple and easy to wire up, although, I would like to try something more advanced..

Accenta or Veritas
HKC sound good. I haven't herd much about them or seen many of their products. I'd have an Elmdene Rapier, or a box preferably with a bell in in, as it is more distinctive.

Accenta or Veritas
If you could choose from any in the world, what would you choose to install? Panel, PIRs and bell box?

Accenta or Veritas
Ha, I guess. I'd probably end up going for a Castle Care Tech panel in my home, when I'm older. So, ADE copied from Scantronic? Naughty of them. Do Menvier still make wired panels? That's is a shame, I would insist to have my logo put on a bell box, if I installed. Always good to get some free Advertising in!

Accenta or Veritas
Strange, I didn't notice, I think ADE or Honeywell should add a Prox feature to the Accenta keypads. Ah, that is what I thought. I also think that the Veritas LCD keypad is better looking than the LCD Accenta keypad. Ah, do you mean the Optima, or Logic 4 as the ageing panel it took over? Yeah, I can see how hard these must be to program. I always thought that they'd be good for people who suffered memory loss, or weren't able to use a keypad.

Accenta or Veritas
What do you prefer for ease of use, instillation and build quality, Veritas or Accenta G4 and what would you rather install? Also, has the Logic 6 been discontinued? I can't seem to find one of them, or a simple set reader anymore. Seems a bit weird, I would have thought that they were two very popular products.
