  1. thank you Lwillis, i may just have to try a 4 digit port number instead of the default 5 digit? wont be back to site till next weekend but if im still having issues i may just take you up on that offer. i could open up the remote programming on the router and you can dial direct into that i think? port :51003?? i can still see any changes made live on my screen too i think.
  2. Have tried enabling DMZ but no success. Is the 582n Technicolor. This is the first time I've ever had an issue setting up port forwarding too. One thing I have not tried is using a lower port number, port :37777 as default for NVR. yeah I can log into the front end no problem internally on the LAN.
  3. Thinking this may be the route I take, although, I just don't understand why it should be necessary. This is a freebie install I'm doing for a friend so trying to keep costs down. Now I remember why I don't install domestics anymore...
  4. I can assure you I have set the TCP rule exactly as it should be lol.
  5. Nope Is it possible that the provider are blocking from ever getting to the router?
  6. Having a similar issue with this exact router on sky broadband, trying to forward TCP 37777 to a Dahua NVR. tried many, many, many different combinations of things. canyouseeme.org just timing out straight away, same story with the gdmss app. i have the app working fine on P2P however i have one third party ONVIF camera on the system that doesnt want to play ball, thought id try and configure with direct IP to try and get that one camera working but seem to have wasted even more time now. Cubit, would it be worth someone who has never used telnet before attempting this? would it be possible for me to get that script from you to try before swapping the router out? i cant see how changing the router is going to make a difference but running out of options....
  7. I've used TP-Link external network bridge before, they work on Poe and/or they come with a 12v inline power supply, come supplied with wall bracket. Using on a net2 plus at approx 75m range. Controller has never fallen offline or needed a reset. However not pushing that much data through
  8. Hi guys, Any help greatly appreciated. I set up a 4 channel Dahua NVR for a friend, decided to go down P2P route which I'd never done before. Three of the cameras are 3MP Dahua and one is 3MP American Dynamics. I have the three Dahua cameras loading up on the app fine but the American Dynamics doesn't want to load for some reason. Thought it might be something to do with user names/passwords or even streaming profiles but thought I'd stop wasting my time with trial and error and ask if anyone else has come across similar.
  9. Make 4 more posts and I can PM you my number
  10. Hi pal, Have a job on going in Harlow at the moment and other stuff around London. Give me a buzz [Edited] Might be able to give you a trial Sorry admin if I can't post telephone numbers, cannot private message.
  11. I have looked at the hikvision 7604 and do like spec. I need an NVR where the alarm reporting / alarm inputs work well And has a good smart phone app, as the main selling point is video confirmation. All I fit these days is i7 razberri's on milestone, the only other NVR I've had a play with is idis To be honest.
  12. Hi guys, I have a friend who I'm putting a quote together for on his house. Been out of the domestic game for years now so I'm fairly clueless as to what's out there domestic wise. I have some external, wireless beam sets I'm going to incorporate into the system which will be set/unset by keyswitch. the recorder will report activations via smart phone app / email. I have a couple of 3MP cameras I would like to use but if someone could suggest a HD DVR system which will work just as well that would be great so I can give him a cheaper alternative system to compare. Many thanks in advance
  13. Does the cable not need to be in containment below a certain height? The only time I would use staples on a grade 3 / commercial site is if the cable is out of reach or out of view. I have gone around site with an SSAIB inspector a few times, most of what he said was pretty much spot on but there were a few things he used to say that sounded more like company policy than it did regulation. Not that his point of view was a bad thing.
  14. Not sure if this is the best place to post but do not have trade membership currently. We are turning down a lot of work at the moment. Need someone, ideally Hampshire, who can travel. We pay hotels + 30p per mile. Need help on some big projects starting in London and south UK.
  15. that is all well and good but the double pole relays are bloody expensive when you buy 200 of them lol. last time we ordered relays from Paxton I think we had in the region of 400 off them, the lady on the phone seemed in disbeleif haha. I see SCS shop selling them on eBay? (May stand corrected) £17.50, seems good value.
  16. Nearly there, although the reader takes a few seconds to power back up. The way to do it is use relay 2 to cut data from the keypad (yellow wire) for the door open time. Or use a double pole relay on relay 1 (ACU in/ACU out readers both need to be deactivated at the same time) we now have 4/5 relays inside an ACU to make it do what we want
  17. Oh I see, that's like two double pole relays you would use on a maglock system. The pods have their own logic and the second door opens automatically via pressure pad / pir. The issue we had is that whilst one person is making transit the keypad / reader still operates, meaning if the door open time was still active, the next user (being impatient) would badge in, the transit complete signal triggers the controller and logs the "impatient user" as already in the building. Meaning they're stuck in the outside world and can not make entry. This was the main issue which Paxton had no fix for.
  18. Special interface? We spoke to one of the system architects on some of the issues and even he didn't mention an interface. there is a way to make it work and so far proven reliable in quite a number of sites
  19. had a project to set up anti-pass back on a Paxton system and ran into a few issues that we managed to overcome on the way. Site uses 'air-lock' style pods for entry, giving transit complete signal upon second door opening which we use to trigger the contact input. We have to allow 25 seconds for transit to be made on door open relay. The pods are two-way and at times can become extremely busy. Relay 2 is used for door bell signal. Can anyone suggest the issues they think we may have come across with paxton and which steps they would then take to make the system work correctly. we had to do one or two 'work arounds' which felt quite genius at the time of installing but should not have been needed.
  20. I have tones of ally tube and a bag full to the brim of saddles couplers and bends, if anyone's interested in taking it off me, never going to get used otherwise.
  21. if you're looking at protecting anything at long range in an open area, we use a range of wireless beams that are solar powered and have a range of 1000 meters to the controller. Work perfectly for farms/across the front of buildings.
  22. from my early days of doing temporary security scantronic was always seen as the most stable and had best signal strength for its price range but at that point in time mesh technology had only just come out, was a bit pricey and drained battery life quickly. not sure whats the best on the markets these days but you're limited on future intergration with DIY alarms like visonic. my personal choice would be a wired g3-44, just for intergration purposes and never having to change the damn batteries! possibly an RF portal just so i can unset the alarm from outside and have the hallway lights come on, that would be cool.
  23. does tamper return not need to be resistored also on grade 3? i usually resistor the fault and tamper outputs into the same zone and link out tamper return / aux tamp on the panel. not sure which way is correct really. on some bell / panel configurations you will also find that a resistor is needed, in line, on the bell input on G3 bells to give the correct stanby voltage.
  24. as a small company i wouldnt see it as a free install, i would see it as investment. your company is at a greater loss if the customer decides to install an alarm with someone else. for the sake of 30 minutes work, its not worth charging for. i agree though it may not be protocol for a service engineer of a large company and he likely has 5 more services to do that day. im self employed and havnt touched domestic alarms for many many years but i know throwing in the odd freebie, keeps customers coming back, and you allways end up charging them in other ways eventually anyway. "leave the phones to the phone co and the alarms to the alarm co imo." - never had an issue patching into the back of a bt socket.
  25. i would have just done it free of charge, yearly maintenance is surely worth it after all. just shows the difference in mentality between big companies and small companies.
