  1. thank you Lwillis, i may just have to try a 4 digit port number instead of the default 5 digit? wont be back to site till next weekend but if im still having issues i may just take you up on that offer. i could open up the remote programming on the router and you can dial direct into that i think? port :51003?? i can still see any changes made live on my screen too i think.
  2. Have tried enabling DMZ but no success. Is the 582n Technicolor. This is the first time I've ever had an issue setting up port forwarding too. One thing I have not tried is using a lower port number, port :37777 as default for NVR. yeah I can log into the front end no problem internally on the LAN.
  3. Thinking this may be the route I take, although, I just don't understand why it should be necessary. This is a freebie install I'm doing for a friend so trying to keep costs down. Now I remember why I don't install domestics anymore...

Having a similar issue with this exact router on sky broadband, trying to forward TCP 37777 to a Dahua NVR. tried many, many, many different combinations of things. canyouseeme.org just timing out straight away, same story with the gdmss app. i have the app working fine on P2P however i have one third party ONVIF camera on the system that doesnt want to play ball, thought id try and configure with direct IP to try and get that one camera working but seem to have wasted even more time now. Cubit, would it be worth someone who has never used telnet before attempting this? would it be possible for me to get that script from you to try before swapping the router out? i cant see how changing the router is going to make a difference but running out of options....
  7. I've used TP-Link external network bridge before, they work on Poe and/or they come with a 12v inline power supply, come supplied with wall bracket. Using on a net2 plus at approx 75m range. Controller has never fallen offline or needed a reset. However not pushing that much data through
  8. Hi guys, Any help greatly appreciated. I set up a 4 channel Dahua NVR for a friend, decided to go down P2P route which I'd never done before. Three of the cameras are 3MP Dahua and one is 3MP American Dynamics. I have the three Dahua cameras loading up on the app fine but the American Dynamics doesn't want to load for some reason. Thought it might be something to do with user names/passwords or even streaming profiles but thought I'd stop wasting my time with trial and error and ask if anyone else has come across similar.

  11. I have looked at the hikvision 7604 and do like spec. I need an NVR where the alarm reporting / alarm inputs work well And has a good smart phone app, as the main selling point is video confirmation. All I fit these days is i7 razberri's on milestone, the only other NVR I've had a play with is idis To be honest.
  12. Hi guys, I have a friend who I'm putting a quote together for on his house. Been out of the domestic game for years now so I'm fairly clueless as to what's out there domestic wise. I have some external, wireless beam sets I'm going to incorporate into the system which will be set/unset by keyswitch. the recorder will report activations via smart phone app / email. I have a couple of 3MP cameras I would like to use but if someone could suggest a HD DVR system which will work just as well that would be great so I can give him a cheaper alternative system to compare. Many thanks in advance
  13. Does the cable not need to be in containment below a certain height? The only time I would use staples on a grade 3 / commercial site is if the cable is out of reach or out of view. I have gone around site with an SSAIB inspector a few times, most of what he said was pretty much spot on but there were a few things he used to say that sounded more like company policy than it did regulation. Not that his point of view was a bad thing.
  14. as a small company i wouldnt see it as a free install, i would see it as investment. your company is at a greater loss if the customer decides to install an alarm with someone else. for the sake of 30 minutes work, its not worth charging for. i agree though it may not be protocol for a service engineer of a large company and he likely has 5 more services to do that day. im self employed and havnt touched domestic alarms for many many years but i know throwing in the odd freebie, keeps customers coming back, and you allways end up charging them in other ways eventually anyway. "leave the phones to the phone co and the alarms to the alarm co imo." - never had an issue patching into the back of a bt socket.
  15. i would have just done it free of charge, yearly maintenance is surely worth it after all. just shows the difference in mentality between big companies and small companies.
  16. alternatively, if you really didnt want to pay for an extension to be installed, you could purchase a gsm/ptsn converter, slip in a sim card and stick that next to the panel. pull the wire from the old socket, crimp a plug on the end and away you go. ADT none the wiser! this is a crazy, **** about face, probably more expensive route to take but still a solution personally, i would have offered the ADT engineer a sneaky £50 to route a cable through the house for me quickly. would have been a much neater install, job done whilst he was on site, no need to pay for a return visit, everyones a winner of course this is frowned upon these days, how dare an engineer help out a returning customer!!
