  2. i was woundering why every1 started suddenly attacking me anyways ive just about had enough of been on here, how do i cancel my account?
  3. well your wrong, so i guess this is why im getting so much hastle
  4. whats it got to do with you what I did? mate your an idiot grow up!
  5. Ive installed many systems and they all work fine, but i dont like texicom I only use honeywell cause its what I prefer and what I know! END OF
  6. look its just old panels that im not familiar with, if you asked me to install a galaxy 2 with an rf module, and an informa dialler id do it with my eyes closed. Ive got a BEng in electronic design, an MSc in electrical power engineering and ive had many years experience in electrical design working in building services!. If i do a job i'll make sure i leave it working! I'll fill out all the documentation, including maintenance records and I'll also include the correct spelling so the client can read it! I will wire my systems to BS7671 and will conform to grade 2 alarm installations!, if i wanted to be like them vultures id not try save the client money id change the panel and over charge them for something they dont need
  7. Id be daft if i Just stuck to manuals, they do tell u alot but they dont give you details like that, which can waste alot of money, and if u can fit parts like PCB's fast instead of changing the whole lot its saving the client money and providing you with more clients as u can do the job cheaper! Right anyways enough wasting time got things i need to do!
  8. Look I know you guys are experts in the area and that comes with time!, I've wired up a full honeywell galaxy 2, with an RF module and an informa dialler system, its just when it comes to old panels like texicom which I've never dealt with its alot harder. Nobody knows everything and experience comes with time, cant be an expert like u guys over night can i If I baught a replacement PCB for that control panel and it was more rescent than the one before, texecom may have changed the mounting possitions, then im knackered thats why i asked first, also most panels do come with flash fuses and yes fair enough i did ask some daft questions and I came accross daft, but thats just my **** peoples skills, not my knowledge!
  9. Look I was just asking people for advise, thats what a forums all about isn't it helping each other?, if you have any constructive comments related to the post then please do add! Thanks
  10. If thats the case what is the forum intended for? everyone needs to learn some how how did you get your experience? and I didn't ask you to look at my post so either help me out or say nothing! and thanks for your professional input there "datadiffusion"
  11. They never make life simple BS and En standards lol, Im doing it for a domestic install tho so my guesses are it should be ok to use as its not theoretically a grade 2 install?
  12. Hi has anyone had any experience of replacing a veritas R8 PCB. Just Ive been looking at one on security warehouse and its only £ 3 questions 1.Does the board come pre-programmed? 2.From what I can see there are no fuses present, does the PCB come with fuses to install, and are the fuse holders already installed or will I need to solder these on? 3.will the PCB mounting holes be fit the old style casing and the new style? heres a link to the PCB itself http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2387 in advance for any constructive comments!
  13. I get you now!, so if its the old board it should be ok then, so doesn't the new one have that feature to?
  14. its just ive heard that it can be a result from a power failure, and you need to enter engineers mode to reset the tampers after. Also if i perform a reset first could then try the default engineers code and eliminate that out? I will test all the tampers to tho, but i wanna 1st try defaulting the engineers code. Can just close loop any tamper circuits that have breaks if any until the guy wants it done then.
  15. yeh thats why i might need the boss code lol, theres another code you use when performing the reset by opening the panel and using the tamper spring!
  16. lol, for that mate, so what your saying is the old R8 doesn't really have an engineers code lock out? it only the new one that does?, Im not sure when the new one came out this is another thing thats confusing me, the board im looking at is around 10 years old I've had a look at both manuals anyway and from what I can see with the old one its 1234 then 00, instead of 1234 Prog, if im not mistaken.
  17. I checked it with a digital multimeter on auto ranging current i was just after the boss code tbh, ive got the engineers manuals already! the boss code is not in there
  18. I checked the battery with the meter and the current did seem quite low, ive had a look throught the installation manual, the guy didnt know what system he had so had to come look at it so just did what i could at the time. I normally work on honeywell systems not texicom ones. If you read the installation manual it does have the method I mentioned, another is to press the reset after powering up again then shut the lid!! Another way is to have the engineers code which i dont and do it through the programming menu! Tampers can also be tested by close looping one at a time and eliminating the fault that way! If theres any1 that thinks they can help that knows about texicom panels would be most appreciated
  19. Hi all, Ive just recently visited a client who has a texicom Veritas R8. Symptoms are that the Alarm repeatedly keeps going off at random times. They said that they have had the external sounder changed a year ago, and that the control panel battery was last changed around 4 years ago. I then put in a temporary battery to see if this was the problem, and for the first few days it was fine but yet again the alarm has gone off several times, the owner says that the tamper light comes on everytime to. They also mentioned the problem occurred after a power out, I have tried the defualt engineers code but nothing happend. My first instinct now is to go back and do a factory reset If this is the case is there anyway of unlocking this with a boss code?, if so can anyone tell me how to please? Also could this potentially be a broken cable in one of the tamper circuits?, if so will carrying out a resistance check on each of the the closed circuits do for testing these? Any input would be greatly appreciated Matt PLEASE DO NOT PUBLISH DEFAULTING METHODS IN THE PUBLIC AREAS
  20. nightmare i just assumed it was all dc, looks like ive learnt the hard way then . Luckily for me ive got a spare panel and its the same one, about the speaker in the panel it doesnt seem very loud ive looked in the manual and it says to adjust the variable resistor marked as rev1, anyone know which direction to turn this to increase the volume?
