  2. Looks like I'll just pull 4 in, anyway price has gone in now!
  3. I'm pricing an install where I need to future proof for expansion. Currently 16 cams on site, I'll be adding another 8 but with potential for 8 more after that (I'm swapping out existing DVR & installing 2 x 16 ways). I need to allow for some redundancy in case of cable breakdown & the additional possibility of maybe 1 or 2 more cameras. Power will be available at the camera split location where the duct comes out the ground. then run up a pole where cables will be aerial with catenary wire. This will prevent voltage drop. All cams will be HD-TVI 1080p 2mp 2.8mm - 12mm varifocal domes/bullets depending on location. I have to install cams approx 100 or so metres away from DVR. I came across a US manufacturer who makes 4 or even 8 CAT cables in one outer sheathing. This would need to be duct grade preferably gel filled. Obviously I can pull 4 in, but if there is a supplier in the UK that does this I would like a price. I have trade accounts with Luxrite, System Q, CEF, Kew, HBL, Norbain, Techvision, SAS but none of them do this. I have contemplating putting a cab in to the expansion area and multiplexing the signals back to the DVR then separating them maybe using fiber, but I think the cost will be prohibitive. Any suggestions?
  4. I did a few CVI installs a couple of years back, a few SDI after that but past 18 months all TVI Hik kit

  9. OK, so once I plugged a mouse in I could access the resolution menu which is not available through the web browser, changed the resolution & restarted, all is now well... hope this thread can help someone!
  10. Yeah I've put in a dozen or more Dahua's with no issues at all... one of my colleagues buys direct from China, he imports & gets great deals & deals with Dahua direct, good kit! I use Hik as I know it inside out & I've put in something like 50 Hik DVRs over the past couple of years with no callbacks (other than user misoperation!)
  11. How about doing it this way... connect it to a HD-SDI DVR then feed the projector from the DVR but only showing that channel? If your client is not bothered about recording you could buy a barebones HD-SDI DVR for about £80 plus VAT trade & send the converter back...?
  12. I've tried the monitor adjustment, that was the first thing I looked at... The setup is as follows: 5m VGA to a 2 way high bandwidth VGA powered splitter, then 1m cable to my monitor & 20m VGA to monitor 2. I thought at first that it was the splitter causing the problem, so I connected directly to the monitor... same problem. As I didn't run a mouse extension cable in, the only other thing I can think of is that there are settings within the DVR that can only be shown while accessing the menu from the DVR GUI rather than over the LAN. I've had that before on other DVRs. It's not the end of the world if I can't solve it, it's just annoying! Thanks fellers
  13. Just ordered some HD baluns, I'm doing this tomorrow, will report back the results...
  14. I put an analogue DVR in my office a while ago and only accessed it via the mobile apps or web, never looking at it directly on a monitor. Well we've needed to hook it up to a monitor via bog standard VGA and the image is "shifted" to the left. All 4 cams are showing fine but the overall image is cut off. When I first set this up I had it connected to HDMI and it was OK but need the VGA output as just using old spare monitors. I've looked right through the settings on the DVR and there is nothing to change the resolution or screen position. Any ideas? Ta.
  15. Well I've been installing CCTV for about 5 years and only buy BNC crimps from my bog standard suppliers (SystemQ, CCTV Wholesales, Luxrite etc) so I guess they're as good as anyone's... and no recalls to any jobs after install from using those ones, but I have stock of these ones now so from now on it'll be only these!! for the link
  16. Nah no offence taken! I guess I need to stick my prices up!
  17. I had to bite the bullet & buy a tester as my analogue only tester is now redundant so if you do a lot of installs, buy a meter & check it that way. What's the make/model of the camera & where'd you buy it? Can you get help from the supplier?
  18. Bloody hell I suppose I could try that... where he wants a 3rd cam there's already 2 on a pole mount, I suppose if I could get that to work I could split the power from 1 to 3 cams leaving the power spare & try it... I hadn't thought about that, but will baluns work for AHD?
  19. Hehe I know right? He came to me after it was all done... here Steve I need to add a camera to this... blah blah blah.... sheesh...
  20. I'm familiar with the CCTV mule product from systemq, I spoke to them yesterday they said 2 HD cams cannot be chucked down 1 cable... anyone know of a product to get around it? (Install already done, all cables chased in to walls/under flooring/inside metal conduit, wants 1 more camera) Not one of my jobs, just helping out a mate. Any one know of a way round it without recabling? I suggested changing DVR for Tribrid then changing the 1 HD cam for 2 x analogue but they do not want to do that... all...
  21. I just had a quote off them as a direct supplier... they will be the most expensive BNCs I've ever bought, 5 times what I normally pay! 55p each, however I don't care if they do the job well & make good connections...
  22. OK so I see my post was edited, sorry I didn't know I shouldn't have posted a price... well most of you have seen that so yeah it's half a day for me & an assistant, I pretty much only install HD-TVI minimum 2MP 1080p & I know Hik stuff inside out so I don't go for the cheap rubbish... And these cams are installed either under soffits or thereabouts... bear in mind that price is based on 4 hours, I always explain that if there are particularly difficult cable routes & it takes a day then it's a days money. 80% profit? Really? Well I pay to keep a couple of vans on the road, public liability insurance, commercial waste disposal, 3 office numbers, 2 mobiles, office & storage space plus all the tools & testers etc, so I guess you don't have overheads?
  23. Hik 8 way Tribrid DVR, 2TB drive, 4 x varifocal eyeball domes 2mp 1080p (OEM) with cabling & connection to router, setup of 2 devices is what I do for my domestics based on a half day install smack on the money at .. then I get the know it alls who tell me they can get a "full hd professional CCTV" system from Maplins at half that price. I normally put the phone down at that point! The poxy domestic kits with the crappy thin cables that always end up in a balled knot, having to drill too big holes to get the connectors through, and a "kit" doesn't supply everything you need (IP rated junction box or self amalgamating tape/cable ties/clips). Always better to supply & fit bespoke. No prices in public please
  24. How the hell I've never come across these I don't know!!! Just spoke with them on the phone to make an order, thanks for the link!
  25. The finished product, straight from the oven! https://t.co/DtggdamW6d
