  1. After having bought BNC crimps from several different wholesalers over the years, both compression, crimp, 2 piece, 3 piece, scre on etc I think I've tried them all. I want to know that when I buy 100 crimps every single one will be perfect. So what's the best one to use & even though I have 2 crimpers & 2 compression tools I'd be happy to buy a specific tool to make the connectors off if it was guaranteed 100% connection every time. Any recommendations?

  5. Thanks for all your replies gents, quite a thread! Well, since posting this I have done 3 installs with Hikvision tribrid recorders (HD Turbo variety) and 2 using the Dahua kit. The Hikvision is 1080p 2mp & the Dahua is 720p 1.3mp, all using varifocal domes. Well, quite honestly, they all work great & finding differences is hard. I'm still really none the wiseras to which is best, but I am finding the tribrid Hikvision HD Turbo with associated cameras from MIECCTV is generating the highest profit margin. I've had no call backs & rock solid performance. Easy to use interface with all the features you expect. The Dahua stuff is also great but slightly more expensive. Over thepast 4 years I have installed so many different bits of kit to try to find a decent regular supplier that I can get to know inside out... year before last I installed several Luxrite systems, then last year mainly Alien DVRs from Systemq. All work great with no issues, but price wise more costly. I suppose time will tell whether I get a call back after a year or 5 years! Thanks again for all your replies...

  9. Thanks for all the replies fellers... imagine for a minute that you are on a HD-TVI install for a rich old couple who couldn't care less about remote viewing and are not even on the internet. I can't even connect to a router just so I have wifi and in turn to an app on the phone as the walls are so thick I can't get signal outside... in these situations I really need a tester with the ability to read HD-TVI cameras. I'm using these ones: http://www.miecctv.co.uk/alliance-hd-tvi-1080p-cctv-dome-camera-30m-ir-2-8-12mm-varifocal-lens-white/ I've done 3 installs with these in the last week, all working well... That blue one looks OK... might give it a whirl...
  10. I have a standard analogue test monitor with all the usual PTZ controls, LAN cable pin to pin tester etc, but now I'm pretty much only installing HD systems, mainly over coax, but some IP also. I want a test monitor that I can connect directly to any camera that covers all types. At the moment I'm installing the cabling first, then the DVR & connecting to the network so I have remote viewing on my phone app for camera adjustment when I put cameras up. This is OK but sometimes I might have a customer with poor wifi and I have no 3G (like I did on a job last week). Any suggestions?
  11. I have applied for trade access a couple of times, first time it got knocked back as even though I do CCTV it was not considered to be a big enough part of my company. Since then I have started an entirely separate company just for CCTV and have guys out installing every day. I have e-mailed a request in for trade access but got no reply, I do not know who the admins are so could someone get in touch as I would really like this ASAP, many thanks.
  12. This past 3 weeks we have installed many 4G filters, call us on 01843 265095 if your freeview picture is breaking up for an install.

  14. I've got several installs coming up with HD kit. I've installed HD-SDI using Luxrite kit which has been fine, but it's super competitive now with suppliers, I have 4 or 5 of them with similarly specced kit, but I want to only use one supplier that is competitively priced, robust & reliable. I'm looking at the "Alliance" tribrids from MIECCTV (they can take a 12TB eSATA hard drive and analogue & HD-TVI cameras with 2 IP cameras). They seem good spec, cameras 1080p 2mp 2.8mm to 12mm varifocal lenses at a great price. Anyone any opinion on SDI versus TVI and what supplier to use? I've also had quotes from Systemq, Aban technology, CCTV direct & Y3K, MIECCTV come out cheapest.
  15. Yeah that's the guy, I checked him out on linkedin too earlier.. He's only about 20 and obviously trying to make a mark for himself... he could be totally OK but I can't risk forking out 2k for materials to either get knocked or get poor quality products. I might pay a bit more elsewhere but I can vouch for them. I'm hoping at least somebody in here has dealt with them!
  16. Haven't got that far into it... trust is something that is built up, I guess I'll have to look into it! I think I'll drop him an e-mail and ask for references from other companies to make sure he's legit... I mean it works both ways so he could ask for my references!
  17. I have been approached by a new supplier called Accura Systems Limited. I have spoken with the director as he has promised me some excellent prices on kit. Being as I don't know much about the company other than they have a website and a phone number plus social media outlets I did a bit of research as I have several installs coming up and need to spend a fair chunk so I need to be careful. I looked him up on companies house and the director is only 20 or so years old. I looked at the company registered address and where he trades from... on google maps it just shows a residential road. Now the feller said to me he sells pallets of DVRs to Adidas... a big customer by anyone's account! If so, I wondered how he kept it all in his ware house in his 3 bed semi! He may of course be genuine and just a young feller being competitive, so has anyone done any business with him? Lately I'm using MIE CCTV as my supplier as they are super competitive, but I'll try a new supplier if they can deliver as promised... What do you think?
