Just saw your clip, yep mine works a lot faster than that! Be interesting to find out what it is causing it, I don't have any net remote errors on mine.
contrast would be nice but not a game changer for me, mine seems clearer than yours but that could just be the recording playing tricks.

I really hate doing this, especially with a product that Ive used for many years and personally have such a high opinion of the product. But I've had enough to be honest, the wireless keypads are slow as hell, the LCD screen contrast is a joke. There is no contract setting on the wireless pads, unless you install at head height it's unreadable. The blue backlight really overpowers the text. I've just spoke to technical who said that's how they are, nothing can be done about it, only the wired have contrast adjustment. So much for these being identical to the wired version, they are miles apart. These need contract adjustment
Simple really, if I'm not happy to have it in my house, it damn sure won't get fitted in a customers. I've arranged with the customer to go back and replace the system with an alternative. This kit will end up being returned. Anyone with a requirement for them should see one working, both of these are less than 8 metres away and are just slow and useless.
I feel your pain, be interested in why they are so slow though?
i haven't installed one for a customer yet, I'm just testing one and it is as quick as a wired one for sure. you have a valid point on the contrast though as it does seem a bit dark.

PSE, I had the arming issue before with DT, I've found that if I go into zone setup and use the "(double reset) on each wireless zone all the way through to make sure there's no data at all on the exp before we attempt to learn anything in has always worked for me.
i had a big site that I inherited from a colleague that would just sit there waiting to arm, it boiled down to the fact that devices had not been learnt on correctly and then the receivers were not being cleared before starting again. ( I believe he was powering devices up but pressing the tamper switch as they were pairing with the exp??)
After defaulting everything and staring a fresh it was fine.
In relation to your keypad issue, I too have a new kit set up myself but with only 1 wireless rkp and it's been running fine for 3 weeks, it is very responsive (to my surprise) as I didn't have high hopes for a battery keypad but it works great.
Be interesting to see if you have any network errors logged on the system?
best of luck

Had a mate years ago that had all his quals but no NVQ, they wouldn't entertain it so he came back and did his 2356 (sparky NVQ) and went back and I haven't seen him since, so he either made it, or he's lying somewhere very sunburnt.
i would imagine the qualifications held are compared to that of their own standard, last time I checked a fully qualified uk electrician has one of the highest ranks in this situation.
another old work coleague of mine did 1 year in Oz and 5 in New Zealand. Both for fire and security companies, and he had no Qualifications at all, not even time served.

Agree with all that, one of the biggest issues over the last few years has been **** cable, it's been mentioned before but a lot of people don't know how to turn a meter on let alone use one. Poor quality cable causes all sorts of issues for many manufacturers, poor quality installations are usually blamed on the gear used, especially when in front of the punter. I've had to have a few quiet words with several company owners when their so called engineers have blamed our kit on their **** install and lack of knowledge. Does my head in when we get called to a site as the cause of the problem, only to find it's got feck all to do with us.
And breathe...
Your totally right in what you say there though, we have had more than a few occasions where kit gets swapped only to find the problem is still there.
Had one So called "Engineer" ring me up panicking as all the fuses in the panel he was working on had "dead shorts" on them. Not even funny really.

I normally find that the anticipation of these kinds of things is much worse than the event. You have done all you can do try to relax and sleep well so you are alert tommorow.
I dont think it will be difficult at all for you.
Good luck

I turned out to a call bout 2am once, to a cottage hospital very old with a lot of history.
Gets there and the guards outside. So we go inside and start looking around, i looked at rkp and then found him, i said have you been upstairs ?
He said im not going up there. Then he told me about a dead patient who haunts the place and he was serious he wasent going upstairs so i did. No lights i add as he didnt know where the main switches were!
So i come back down and about 4 mts away from us was a porch entrance with a pir hooked up to a bell as a chime.
The chime rang... Neither of us were anywhere near it nor would it have faced our direction, i said theres no way we triggered that so we quickly ran outside and checked the perimeter. Nothing.
So we went back in and he says maybe it was..........
(cant remember the name of the said haunter)
And the chime went.
At that point he says fook this im going come on.
System was re armed and locked up,
I wasent that bothered but the guard said all sorts have happened when hes been in there and now refuses to go upstairs!

Put it in plastic trunking inside the metal then!
Technically still seperate!lol

The "shoulds and coulds" are a joke in this document (5839) and imo variations need looking at as well because theres nothing stoping you wiring it in coax and using a variation!
We have always asumed in 5839 that shoulds are "musts" and install to that idea, the only variation we have used is mcp hight to match other switches ect on new build

As in the other thread i stand to your findings too

I wonder why!One of my mates is in lanzarote and maintains ex pats swimming pools. Pulls in about 400 euros a week. Then on the side he install cameras to the local restaurants, pubs and clubs for extra dosh.
Supposedly they are crying out for CCTV over there.
Brits on tour me thinks!

Agree, not something I would do, almost promoting his company as a dummy Alarm installer, gives a poor impression to me.
