Well I could have climbed up the ladders and stepped off them onto the roof, but the window was an easier option.
So has nobody here taken any risks in their entire career? I'm not saying id Hanging off some tray and fit a camera but calculated low risk IMO tasks are okay.
It's a risky job sometimes and I'm sure we've all done something we probably shouldn't have to get a job done, because it was easier or quicker or cheaper, but I heard something the other day that made me think. Someone in the trade using their own domestic, aluminium steps on a site. He fell off them, broke two ribs and fractured his skull. He was off on statutory sick pay until the HSE investigated and found out about his unauthorised step ladders, upon which he was promptly dismissed for unsafe working practice leading to a serious injury at work!

You`re correct.
Tired myself, wide awake at 4 am, work and work, plus more work.
Just took the colours as granted.
No worries. To be fair, Alpha Alarms up here used to use the green as pos and the white as neg for some odd reason. Still catches me out on occasion when swapping out a detector!

Not sure if you were jesting but an hour for an hour after 12am, ie go out on call at 1am, get back home at 3am, report into work at 11am (presuming you start at 9 of course)
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure last time I fitted an EV-105, the neg is on the outside with the pos next to it (the link is the negative control line for the LED)
Call out at 3am , non stop all day since, finished at 6
No rest time?

Is there anything that says shutters have to be contacted? IE would two dual techs covering the area inside the shutter not be a better, easier, less faffing around solution?

+++++ is the master user code, not the engineer code. As it's a Chubb panel, the engineer code will default to the Pin of the Day for a certain date I believe. Also, and I may be wrong, I think that you need to flash the software to get rid of the Pin of the Day feature. It's not something you can disable in the engineer menus.
Can't really go into any detail in the public forums though, you need to apply for trade access so you can get into the trade part of the site.

Woah there. Not quite that easy. You need to carry out a site test first to make sure you're gonna get the necessary signal strength.
Surely this is the case with any 'radio' based communicator?

Do you know the make/model of the bell box? Do you have a multi meter to test voltages with?
Try taking the wire out of 12v+ in the panel; is the sound still "screechy"?

The first panel I ever installed was a metal cased Logic 4 that I bought for 50p off a car boot when I was 9 years old (I still think I got ripped off!). I put it in our shed and had it wired to a carbon Ever Ready 12v battery that I got from B&Q. I had a microswitch on the door and another on the roof incase anyone tried to lift it off. Master Bell outside...
I've serviced quite alot of old Logic 4, Genco and Bentley panels, all of which were still going strong long after the original contacts, pressure matts and Friedland bells had been changed out due to failure.
I've ripped a panel out that sounds like the one Alarm Guard is describing. 1 zone, Keyswitch on the top left or top right, blue hammerite casing with a black plastic control panel with white lettering on, and three LEDs in the middle. Had been fitted by AID alarms of Liverpool, I believe. Wish I'd have kept it now...

day glow odyssey??
No, but I know who you're thinking of (O S S of Liverpool?)
I think HI - Tec use a Ventcroft box...

Mate i know all about them.
A lot of cash for not very much.
And very pushy sales reps.
Are they the ones with the bright orange bell boxes?
We are Northwest based and would be happy to quote you. -
I'm supprised they don't come with a free pack of crayons as well.

Be careful you don't exceed the current rating of the output/PSU if you already have a sounder connected. You're limited to 500mA from the bell output.
