Great news lol I might try one next week.
-
I don't quite follow you?
I'm saying one of these bunged under the contact
yep, thems the ones, come in 10s.
-
KP do plaggy spacers to lift G3's of metal surfaces, I wonder in 5mm of plaggy would help prolong the life of RSC which oftend sit in the wet ?
We use them on most RSC's now, seem to have much less trouble.
-
I thought the point of using door contacts is to ensure the site is secured before the sub leaves ?
eg-- leave stock in the door way & return to nab once everyones gone home ?
As did I? Think most insurers think the same.
-
Is there anything that says shutters have to be contacted? IE would two dual techs covering the area inside the shutter not be a better, easier, less faffing around solution?
lol thats what Astra alarms do, bit rough on G2 with no mask IMO.
-
Same tech also
We tend to fit one, never been pulled up about it, then either DT, or AX across the door
still no confirmed if they check which end is contacted and pop the other.
We have had to fit beams on a few sites due to being rammed with fork lift and not activating the contacts.

lol
however the point being take home is relative to hours worked. Some s.e peoples hourly rate makes me lol.
very true, being a lazy **** I do ok.
One thing that makes it worth the longer hours (not 15 though!) is having something to sell at the end.

Don't you live in a council flat?
wheeeeeyyyyyy
If council flats were like this I'd go and sign on like you.

Being the cynic....
I suspect a nice mediocre white collar carrer will bring greater rewards with little risk & none of the hassle of being self empployed in this industry ?
I would agree, but a wouldnt last long enough being told what to do etc to get to that point. Saying that I take home a fair bit more than any of my mates and no they are not all paupers
-
Those 15 hour days take their toll on body and mind! I do 10-12 hrs most days, but you get used to that and if you can get a couple of those hours done at home it makes it easier to live with.
-
Not sure while your smiling at that.
Good point.
I had to remind myself a while back that we work to live and not live to work. Atleast thats what I told myself when I was in Las Vegas and Cancun this summer
-
I have a little oap club that would use that app, the daft old dears keep leaving their fobs at home and the manager has to come down to let them in.
Why not go for a cheap dialler or cctv relay (if they have it).
-
True, I forget we are next to head office
ps: Access control in Wales? You will be telling me they have broadband next.

As far as I can see from this post, it's a grade 2 system so you'll be fine with a single contact.
That is not correct, the grade makes no difference to the amount of contacts. If the shutter requires 2 due to size then it gets 2. We tend to go with a contact and IR beam these days due to shutter being cut or rammed.
-
Well I haven't gave the G3 option any thought because it's a G2 system but.....correct me if I'm wrong thats why I'm on this forum, the circuit wiring will stay the same but the RS's will need to have magnetic tampering detection the JB's are already G3 so no change there. Is there anything else?
He is just trying to catch you out, trick question.
-
yeah, but not everybody lives in Salford.
Salford?
-
confim on one door?
could group them not to confirm, but yeah i know what you mean. We have had to use beams on a few due to them being rammed/cut.
-
good practice would be 2

Before you all condemn the alarm company ..... we don't know yet if they installed it or just sold the kit to the OP.
Daft however you look at it IMO. ie. selling gear to public or installing equipment you don't support.
Or it could be a pro company with coms contract and customer is after a free reset on here we would never know.
-
Full of something definitely
I have a good suggestion for you.......................................
-
good suggestion to be fair.
I'm full of them.
-
just a bit more time for meself, just to have a little extra time to organise meself and i would be happy.
Ive not enough hours in the day, thats the cause of me stress.
If thats the case you would be better with part time admin and maybe a trainee/apprentice IMO, would cost you same as one fully qualified engineer. You need to look at what YOU would rather be doing, paperwork or installs?
-
Don't expect your stress level to go down will ya
lol, ain't that the truth, more staff = more problems. Only way to go though if you want to earn decent £££ over a sustained period IMO.
One thing i will say about this game, i don't have any friends my age that earn the same as i do, so although its hard i don't see a time i will ever go back to cards in, i wouldn't know what to do with myself.
PS: To anyone reading this and thinking about making the jump, in this current climate i would say some of the newer firms on here are the exception to the rule, alot more go to the wall, infact atleast one who osted in this thread has gone tits up twice in as many years. So think about it!!
