Hello guys,

I want to improve the CCTV maintenance side of the business and would like some advice on what others are doing with regards to system cover.

Do you provide a cover that replaces all faulty equipment barring ancillaries like bulbs ect? Or do you provide a service that involves only maintenance visits a couple of times a year to identify a problem, which the customer would pay for, if they wanted it repairing.

Would anyone have a terms & conditions format that I could use, Iā??m willing to pay for this so donā??t think Iā??m just after a freebie, but I do need help with this one.

Anyone who can help, I will thank in advance.

cheers fellaā??s

Justin

Hi Justin

I offer both at installation and for a takeover i offer basic maintenance only.
You must know someone who has a shop or factory unit, ask them to get a few quotes from companies operating in your area, this way you will find out what the competion are doing and you will also get the templates you require to be compeditive. Doesnt sound very ethical but dont think they aint doing it to you.

Hey Justin,

I wouldn't offer them parts and labour if that's what your asking. DVR's ect ir's and even decent cameras can cost, and may cost you.

I offer the customer whatever warranty I get. Basically the contract states they get 12 months warranty. HOWEVER, if they have faulty item which I get 3 years warranty on I wouldn't charge them for replacement, even though it goes against their 12 month warranty, you'll find it gives you a better name.

I'd give the lenses and housings a clean, if your into vcr's and know your stuff I'd give the tape rollers, and so on a clean, aeroduster and pcb cleaner etc etc. Check psu's for voltage and current readings to make sure everthing a ok, check the fixings of the cameras, time and date on vcr almost always needs changing, give the monitor screen a good wipe, you'd be supprised how dirty these things get, it also makes a difference to the quality of the pictures!!!!

Any parts I'd get them to pay for extra obviously. My cctv contract is the same as intruder basically with a few minor alterations, I'm sure you could do the same. Some samples are avalible, if you goto ssaib there's a link to ecs-service, I think it's www.ecs-services.co.uk but don't hold me to it. They have all the forms you'll probabally need.

Regards Tony. :)

Ian,
it makes sense to only give your own installations fully comprehensive cover so I think Iā??ll stick to that, Iā??ve come across a few installations that could be a real pain if I offered the full replacement of faulty parts.

I do agree with Rich though Ianā?¦..Come on hand some overā?¦ :D

Maverick cheers for the info on these types of documents on the SSAIB site. Iā??ll have to check them out.

I'm a Data Protection Asessor but Companies just dont seem to want to fork out for maint even though for some its a must for them to use there Data in court.

I guess I'll come up with some form of format that looks professional.

cheers lads.

Justin
