Nexus 8 - Does It Need Reset?

Featured Replies

I have recently moved into a new house and it has one of those Nexus 8 alarm systems installed - I have the pin pad code however no manuals of any sort on its operation.

At the moment I attempted to reset it by entering the key code 3 times but this failed - My problem is the alarm will just go off right away if I set it - So I assume it needs reset..

It is displaying 3 different messages...

rr - I take this to mean reset.

BF - No idea.

Bk - K is the closes letter to the display - See below for better:

Can anyone here advise on what is needed to resolve this and/or let me know where I can get a copy of the manual from?

Thanks very much.

Thank you for that - According to the document the bell fuse has failed, the bell has been tampered with and the system needs a reset.

As I know nothing about alarm systems - Can I ask which part is the bell and where the fuse might be located? I think I can manage the reset by entering the code twice :)

Thanks.

You wouldn't happen to have just removed it from the wall would you, thus causing a bell tamper condition?

No, the house has been empty for about 12 months, The neighbours said some kids had been playing with the lights on the outside (And stole the bulbs..) so it is possible they messed with it.. I assume the bell is the alarm box outside then.. I have one at the front and back.. So it could be either? Could the system be fixed with a new fuse per bell box or is there one in the main circuit box?

[edit]When cleaning the cuboard when we first moved in - the circuit box was knocked and the cover came off in part causing the alarm to go off.. Maybe that was it? - You will have to excuse me as I know zero about alarm systems.[/edit]

I would recommend you call an engineer out as questions like 'which bit's the bell' aren't instilling confidence in any of us.

If you post your location then there may be someone reading in your area who can assist.

I understand thanks for the help though - I Live in a small town called Buckhaven in Fife - I noticed only one company is listed on the Installers page - Alarm Protection Limited - I may give them a call. Must find a yellow pages though.
