December 25, 200520 yr comment_80295 Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with this one ? I have a VCL dome with a VCL controller (I realise that you guys hate VCL stuff but it's all I have lol) The dome and controller are working without any problems at all. Now, the camera within the dome is a Sony EVI-331T, it has 12X optical zoom which works fine. Although, this particular model (EVI-331T) is in itself equiped with a 2X digital zoom which should theoretically give me 24X zoom capabilities. Currently when I zoom in to maximum zoom on the controller, all I get is the 12X optical zoom and not the 24X zoom. My question is....... Should I be expecting the digital zoom to work also ? or is the digital zoom not compatible with the contoller or the VCL hardware currently controlling the camera ? Maybe this is the dipswitch issue ? Any help would be very gratefully received ps, currently dip switches 1-7 are on and sw8 is off. Regards Martin Merry Christmas also and a happy new year Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/8672-a-long-shot-i-know-but/ Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 December 27, 200520 yr comment_80389 What model of vcl dome and controller do you have? The contoller is VCTM3VP and controls the dome via twisted pair direct cable connection RS232 I'm not really sure which dome I have though. It looks exactly like a VCL internal microsphere 8" Although this one is 9" in diameter and is an external one. I managed to find some info on the internal version which appears to have the same contol board. Apparently DILSW-8 enables the digital zoom. I have tried this and it's still only optical zoom. I can only assume that the camera module I have is a EVI-331 and not a 331T, therefore no digital zoom capabilities Only thing now is trying to figure out how to program this controller Just cannot find any info on this, maybe it's too old. December 28, 200520 yr comment_80489 Have you been in the keyboard menu = Lock+9090/camera setup/Zoom = DIG or OPT Thanks Trulloman, I tried Lock+9090 but it didn't seem to do anything. Should I see an onscreen display or something ? or is there a button I should press to enablr digital zoom ? Thanks oh and a big thanks to you for your knowledge of these contollers. from another post you made I managed to program my controller to automatically tour through my presets Edited December 28, 200520 yr by Tally Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/8672-a-long-shot-i-know-but/#findComment-80489 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 December 30, 200520 yr comment_80789 Thanks Trulloman,I tried Lock+9090 but it didn't seem to do anything. Should I see an onscreen display or something ? or is there a button I should press to enablr digital zoom ? You should hold down the lock button whilst you enter 9090 then a menu will appear on the screen. If it won't show a menu try rebooting the contoller and keyboard then try again if still no joy it may be an old dome which you cannot access the menu but I haven't seen one of them for a few years and they tend to be larger than the 8 inch microsphere and didn't have the push & twist action to remove it from the housing. If you manage to enable the digital zoom, when you zoom in, the lens will stop at the the limit of its optical zoom. Keep the joystick twisted after a short period the digital zoom will start to work.
