Featured Replies

Just after a recomendation for a PIR which would be suitable for siting in a potentially draughty garage?

Manufacturer

Or a bag of sand and cement and a box of silicone. ;)

A box of silicone :hmm: Assume you mean, say, 12 tubes

The really large holes. ;)

napco or rokonet are good dt makes, they work in extreme temps, but remember to seal all entry holes.

What affect do draughts have on a pir sensor?

They see the area as just a collection of hot, cold & warm areas or objects. If a block of air can blow into the room the heat pattern would be altered enough to trigger the sensor

a good pir will work as well as any dt in a a garage..why oh why do people see dt's as the answer to everthing....ive got a ir 220 in my garage with no probs...remember dt's false alarm everyday it not what you fit its where you fit it...id choose a good pir over a average dt anyday..

But it also depends on the environment of the garage. Every garage is different.

Everyone has there own opinion.

Maybe i was a bit strong in saying Standard pirs are useless in a garage environment.
