Hello all,

My name is John from Ireland and its great to find this very useful site. I have only installed one alarm but helped fix a few. I have being asked by some of my friends to install something in their houses and fortunatly they are prewired with four core except one . This house might be a wireless jobby as it amazes me how some installers make the wires dissapear completly (and others don't bother) there must be a trade secret to it. I don't know how to do it without chasing conduits through the wall.

Any way what I have installed is a simple enough system (gardtec CP8)no problems at all although the control box looks messy inside. I added a rise in heat detector, two panic buttons and a dialler, and today finally figured out how to get the part guard to work the way I wanted. One feature I turned on today was the chime on windows and the rear entrances, more for if small children open them without me knowing, very nice feature.

Future add ons, I hope to add a glass breakage detector to the downstairs area.

Welcome to the site Johnyd, hope it helps in any future jobs/projects.

Top tip: if you ever catch fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because i bet thats what REALLY throws you into a panic and dont forget the one thing you cant recycle is wasted time.
