Web Servers with Support for Apple Macs

Featured Replies

Many of the Web servers that allow the output from a DVR to be viewed remotely now have an option to view through Internet Explorer rather than there own software viewing programme.

In theory an Apple Mac that has Internet Explorer loaded should be able to view the images. Most of web servers require ActiveX to be be supported which seems to a sticking point for Macs.

So far we have tried the DMRNET, NET200 and LJD IPSERVER products. Can anyone offer advise on alternate products or who to view remote images on a Mac.

Intresting one i think nobody has come across, if you MAC has a web broswer the you should be able to connect to a DVR the unit you have tried did you not contact the support of the units to see if they did any software for a MAC.

No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.

So far all suppliers contacted have been most helpful but have also confirmed they do not offer viewing software that is Mac compatible.

www.securityspy.com for mac maybe.

p.s. I'm an Apple Mac user but I'm not sure what your trying to do, I once had a Windows PC laptop until one day I asked Bellman to fix it. lol :ninja:

p.s. lets see how long it is until he reads this post :P

I've never tried from a Mac on any remote software but the ones I've just looked at, including some of the ones mentioned in the first post, state that they can be viewed with any web browser, (well, a couple said IE but I think they are just lacking in knowledge as one of them I've had working in FF). I recently used a flakey webcam which used ActiveX or Java to view it. Neither of them worked particularly well so I won't bothe recommending it but surely some of the better manufacturers should provide something if this dodgy thing does.

I would maybe complain to the suppliers\manufacturers for falseley advertising their use with any browser as technically a browser is a browser. Might not get you anywhere but give them some grief, mention trading standards!
