hi,

my Optima XL6 keypad has stopped responding, the battery in the unit has not been changed for about three years. Do you think if I have a new battery fitted that this will resolve the problem? the backlight ,day and tamper lights are on but the keypad does not respond.

Hi Paul ,

If your tamper light is on , then you have a tamper fault , this could be the panel lid , the bellbox switch or any one of the sensing device covers or the wiring .

sorry it is the day and power light that is on and the backlight on the keypad, will I be able to open the unit without the alarm activating the strobe and siren?

Opening the panel will set of a tamper. I would get an engineer to come out and do a service and have a look at you alarm at the same time.It will cost you(not a lot though) but your system will operate better. Take out a maintenance contract and get the system serviced once a year.
