Extra lock on a pvc door

Featured Replies

Our front and rear doors are pvc and just have the standard lock on the handle. is it possible to add an extra lock to the door, like a dead lock, that can be locked from the outside, (we have sach levers on the inside) as i don't feel just locking it with just the one standard lock.

Any advice would be most appreciated

Thanks

I think you best course of action would be to contact either the pvc firm who installed your doors, or another pvc company who specialise in that type of thing, i know thoses type of doors can be a real can of worms when it comes to anything outside of whats been done in the factory

If your door has multi-point locking (that when you lift the handle to lock the door then metal bolts slide up the side of the door to lock into recesses on the frame), then no!

If you don't have the above then you should really ask a locksmith.

You can always upgrade the lock cylinder itself to a more secure one if you feel that is a weakness.

Or talk to the double glazing company that fitted the doors to get their advice.

Yes that what i have! I just wondered if there was such a thing like a sash lever that could be turned via a lock from the out side!

Thanks for the replies
