Optima XL4

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have an Optima XL4 alarm and unfortunately, due to a power cut yesterday, it appears to have stopped operating. The result is that all the lights are lit up on the panel however, none of the buttons works.

Could anyone please tell me what the problem is and how I may cure it?

Your help is very much appreciated.

If you search around old posts you'll find quite a few similar problems.

The usual reply has been:

Is it on a contract? Usually no. (If yes, call them)

Have you had it serviced recently? Usually no.

Has the battery been replaced in the last 5 years. Usually no.

High probability that failed battery has damaged the charging circuit causing the system to fail and lockup.

Whatever the reason you will almost certainly need a professional engineer to sort it out, maybe including replacing the panel if it is damaged.

Someone else will no doubt give a recommendation if you say what area you are in.

Many thanks for your response and I apologise if it is repeating old ground. The answers are all the negative though I think (only recently moved in) so if anyone knows an engineer in the Manchester area, I'd be grateful.

Hi, give me a ring if you still need an engineer :D
