Outloook Express

Featured Replies

Hi All

Most times when sending a message using outlook express I get the following message

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'sales@somebody.ie'. Subject '', Account: 'Paul Hoban', Server: 'mail2.eircom.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79  :realmad:

If I go to the ISP website and send the same message there

Did a search on google many different answer none that worked

Kind of hoping someone had this problem here and was able to fix it

Thanks newbec

Your ISP`s SMTP server (the one that sends mail for you) probably requires authentication (your account name & password) to send mail.

1. Click Tools

2. Click Accounts

3. Highlight your account

4. Click Properties

5. Click Servers Tab

6. Check the box My outgoing server requires authentication

Have done that one already no joy

If I go to the ISP website and send the same message there

my broadband is not connected to Eircom it is with a wireless isp

would this have effect

Paul.

Probably is yes.

eircom`s SMTP server is probably rejecting your outgoing mail because it thinks somebody is trying to use it as a relay. (for bouncing spam and the like)

Can you not send mail through your wireless provider?

Just checking, but if you click on settings (beside the `my server requires authentication` check box) is the option "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" selected?

I can but I want to keep the E-mail addresses.

I have the business one on all my stationary.

Not a problem.

I assume you already have an account setup in outlook express for the wireless ISP`s server.

On the general tab in the properties for that account fill in the reply address with you eircom email address.

Use the wireless one to send mail (make it default & remove the SMTP serevr address in the properties of the eircom account)it will look to all the world that you are sending mail from the eircom account.

Make sure that the POP server address in the eircom account isn`t removed, and on the general tab that "include this account when recieving mail" is checked

You should be aware though that most ISP`s wont allow you to use their POP servers to collect mail indefinately if you no longer have an account with them.

I assume that eircom used to be your ISP before you moved to your current provider.
