February 21, 200521 yr comment_41277 Hi, I am considering having fire detectors (smoke and heat) on my alarm system which is a Veritas Excel. However, what I want is for only the internal sounders to activate when i am at home and the fire alarm activates (ie, when the system is unset or on part set), but for the external sounders to activate when the system is on full set and i am not in. I don't want the external sounders sounding when i burn the toast!! My friend has the system but is not sure whether the external bells can be isolated when the alarm is unset or part set. February 21, 200521 yr comment_41279 In a Word no. Veritas will only trigger all sounders on a fire zones. Fitting the right smoke/fire detectors will cut false alarms from burning toast anyway. Eg use a heat instead of smoke detectors in/near the kitchen. Dave Oxendale York based security systems engineer. February 21, 200521 yr comment_41282 Programming the zones as tamper would give you your desired result(check options 1 and 3 in misc selections 01 though) However, smoke/heat detectors attached to your alarm should be programmed as fire. If you don't know......ask.
