Lectrician
What is the best way to protect a garage with automatic garage doors?? Is it simply a keypad and entry delay?? Stupid question I know, just though there may be a novel way around this situation?? Lectrician
Shunt lock or pass switch, which isolates the zones! 39153 So if the garage door opener has a programmable relay (which many do), if it was set as 'courtesy light', this could be used to 'short' door contacts / pir's ??? Whats a shunt lock?? Lectrician
A lock with a switch in it basically. Turn the key and the switch will change from NO to NC or vice versa as to preference 39161 I see. Couldn't use one with an electric garage door then Email : martin@askthetrades.co.uk Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4973-garage-doors/#findComment-39165 Share on other sites
abbz
on my elctronic door opener i have a light that activates when the button to release door is pressed. what i personally done is get a mains voltage rated relay and wired it in the light cct. the n/c voltage free o/p from the relay went in a standard menvier 2 cct zone omit unit. all i got protected in my garage is a dtec and a roller shutter contact. these 2 circuits are wired into the zone omit unit. my garage unit light stays opersted for about 90 secs which is ample time for the wife to park the car close the door again and get out and turn of alarm from keypad situated in garage. sometimes shes even smart enough to beable to actually leave the garage without having to unset it first as the "light on time" is ample. abbz
peter, u have an MC on top of ur door, whats he do, everytime u go into the garage he gets up and welcomes u and ur guests my garage is on a seperate area, as peter said though can be a pain in the butt when working in there and the zone omit buzzer comes on as the zones are open. i know can bypass the buzzer but have never got round to doing it.
