January 13, 200521 yr comment_37057 Hello, I am new to this forum. I moved into my home some years back and it has an old omnicom 2000 alarm panel. It has served me well over the years but now the external sounder keeps ringing in the unarmed (off state) and the strobe does not flash. Walk tests show that the zones are OK and the LEDs behave correctly. I have replaced the battery connected to the alarm panel but this has not helped. I replaced the sounder with a buzzer but this just kept buzzing, however at this time I did not remove the strobe output from the panel. Any suggestion from this forum would be helpful. I have been toying with the idea of replacing it with an Optima/Accenta G3 if I cannot fix the problem. Is this a good make of panel? January 18, 200521 yr comment_37361 From your desciption of the symptoms it sounds like the external sounder is sef actuating (tamper fault on external sounder) So when you get the panel replaced the external sounder can go the same way. Accenta is 1000% better than the omnicr^p but there are better panels Pete 37185[/snapback] Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4791-omnicom-2000/#findComment-37361 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 January 18, 200521 yr comment_37362 Hi people, Thanks for the info. James I did think about the bell tamper, I climed up to the bell and shorted the bell tamper connections to rule this out of the equation. I also tested out the microswitch which seemed to work OK except that it did look a bit worst for the wear. Interestingly, I did have a period where it seemed as if all was OK, the system stabilied but then bell started ringing again. I have decided to replace the panel and the external sounder to be on the safe side but am still confused about which panel to go with. I quite like the idea of being able to program the panel through a pc but these seem to cost a lot more.....and I don't know if the interface is flaky or whether the extra money spent is worth it. Any more recommendations? January 22, 200521 yr comment_37754 DNS Security, I live in the Reading (Berkshire area). Who ever did the alarm work before did a reasonable job. All the zones seem to behave ok, but obvioulsy I need an Alarm. Any idea on how much a new panel + external sounder + fitting would cost? In fact any takers on giving me a quote?
