morph Posted January 7, 2005 Share Posted January 7, 2005 12 volt smokes wired to an intruder alarm dont pass the Regs in London, they need to be either mains fed with a battery back up and interlinked or as Pete says BS5839:2002 system. To do it to the regs and also have the smokes connected to the alarm system you can use a relay base on mains\capacitor backup smokes. I usually use the EI range. I usually use the EI range. 36427[/snapback] indeed but i am not sure on the regualtions on smoke alarms its been 8 years since i attended college... and we always have properties correctly inspected, and as you are all aware i have never used a 12 volt smoke thats what i was asking they have always been mains and interconnected... so thats why they pass anyway i wanted to tell you all the good news i have just recieved (lurch you will be so proud of me) i will be sitting a training course for Global galaxy training session with VCL in the next few weeks. i am taking this seriously and asking you guys the questions helps me to learn as much as possible. here is another question i intend to alarm all my windows (with the gadgets lurch said) and doors would it still be important to have a movement detector ? or should i go for something else ?
