July 30, 200619 yr comment_108850 We have been installing Castle Care Tech for 20 years plus. A few months ago we had major problems in a large School ( system 3 years old ) due to a storm and we had to change about 25 iD biscuits. I had a long chat with Castle tech help and they said it was OK to mix old iD & iD plus biscuits however to make sure that the iD plus biscuits we fitted were of a higher value than the old iD biscuits ??? This was impossible to abide by as we had biscuits faulty all over the place 1, 3, 5 etc... The most important point with iD biscuits is to have as few joins as possible and any joins to be done well and soldered. Anyway we just changed what we hat to, had a few twin devices and tampers come up however we eventually cured it. Since then our Engineers have changed biscuits as & when needed on other sites and 95% of the time it has been OK. hi clivesorts, i have also had a large house hit by a storm as well as a few smaller homes, 'blew' 50% 0f the chips outright,, others suffering from 'faling off and returning' in the test window. i would advise any job drectly hit or close by, should have all the chips and the iD Blue discriminator changed on Ultimates. regs alan optex? amongst others, just i always feel had they sent out the pcb socket with wires on it, would be smaller and easier to instal in a 20mm door contact or surface plastic cased reed. and the envelope would not keep popping open as later versions of the older chip do regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! July 30, 200619 yr comment_108907 no I'm on about the plug in biscuit optex did an ex35 with a socket on it. of course you could buy contactsfiited with biscuits yeah! i know m8, it was the plug-in socket used in that Optex i was on about. the numbered contacts have the same issue with 'missing' numbers in your stock and now we have two types to deal with, againn you buy them in 10's although 10 were issued in the box early days. i don't use that many door contacts, so 1st job front door No1, Back door No2, control cupboard door No3,, next job 3, 4 & 5 etc. just gets on my tit's and never liked that skinny bar type contact for fitting either, always needed an ugly j/b. the 20mm gets damaged removing it due to the green wood swelling, and your stuffed again. regs alan. July 31, 200619 yr comment_108960 ordinary qick fits are fine, just need a deep hole to allow for the biscuit. did you know (andn i bet you did) that you don't actually need a contact with id chips, the chip will work with hall effect. place magnet in front of the chip and it changes state - now not many people know that! regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! July 31, 200619 yr comment_108979 I cant see how as the id chip simply reports its presence on the system and wether its white and blue leg are in contact with each other via a relay or reed switch... but I shall test this out tomorrow Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/4505-id-id-biscuits/page/3/#findComment-108979 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
