i am told it is possible to set up my ipaq to send and recieve emails and faxes etc using my mobile phone... does anyone know how to set it up and how easy or reliable it is

thanks

Do they both have infrared? If so it should be fairly easy.

If you don't know......ask.

yes i believe the ipaq has because it can control tv etc and it has bluetooth

my phone is a nokia 6230 and also has infa red and bluetooth

regards

Bluetooth is better as it doesn't restrict you to not moving anywhere at all whilst using it.

First thing you need to do is pair the devices. Go into the connectivity menu on the phone and select something along the lines of paired devices\options\new or add device or whatever it comes under.

Go into the bluetooth manager on the iPAQ and select new from the bottom lefthand corner. After that it's all screen prompts, make sure you type the same pin into each device when it asks for it.

Shout up if there are any problems along the way, I'd tell you exactly how to do it if I still had an iPAQ, but some drugged up chav relieved me of it recemtly.

I don't know the programming of the ipaq, but I think I had to install a generic IrDA modem. Once installed, I could just select it and set it up like I would on a windows pc.

:)

got them sort of paired but when i enter bluetooth code it kicks it out

What kicks it out?

Are you using a 4 digit numerical code?

Thinking about, I seem to remeber my Dads PDA, whicg I think was a 2210, took a few attempts to get it paired.

It might be worth updating the firmware in the iPAQ if there are still problems.

yeah the code, enter 0000 on phone then when i try on pda it shuts off and same if i tell pda to search for phone... even tried going through connection wizzard

Hmm, bit of trial and error then I think. I can't remember exactly what I did to get it to pair my phone with the 2210.

Without actually having it in front of me I'm struggling somewhat.

I haven't done it with bluetooth but it's pretty straightforward with IrDA

If you don't know......ask.
