Finding Galaxy panel software version

Featured Replies

Is it possible to tell what software version a Galaxy panel is running without powering it up with a keypad attached?

Eg Is it usually displayed on the casing or on the PCB, either directly or with a sticker?

Take the top of the control box, locate the main PCB (not power supply board) there are three or four large ICs, one of which is an EPROM and is in a socket. It will have the version number on it like V2.31, V4.10, V4.39 etc.

Thanks, thats really helpful.

I've got a second hand panel which I won't be having installed for some time, but I wanted to know how recent it was.

Apol's for reviving an old thread - I have just acquired my employer's Galaxy 18 (2x RIO's, MK2 RKP, Redcare STU and ton's of sensors) - I am going to be installing in my home office within the next couple of weeks - the software on the main EEPROM is apparently v1.72, is it possible to upgrade this to a newer release?

Also, I won't be using the Redcare STU so was looking at alternative methods of monitoring. I was thinking of purchasing an SMS mod, but due to inexperience the galaxy range I don't know if it will work on the firmware I currently have. If that isn't feasible then I was thinking of purchasing a speech dialer and mounting it in the control panel where the Redcare STU was - can you envisage any reason why I may need to gain access to the dialer apart from initial programming and the odd bit of maintenance (changing numbers etc)? I haven't tried these dialers before and not sure if you have to reset them once they have been triggered.

Thanx! Richard
