Optima XL4 query

Featured Replies

Could anyone offer any assistance with the Optima XL4. The mains power has been off and on in the last week as I'm having building work done, when the powers been put back on the alarm has gone off, I've been able to stop the alarm by using the usual code but the display panel is now frozen & displaying "tamper". Can anyone suggest how I can get the display panel active again showing the "day" mode.

I've had the alarm since I moved into the property in 1999, I had a previous problem with the alarm & had the alarm serviced & the battery replaced but possibly 2-3 years ago.

If it needs a engineer can anyone recommend anyone reliable in the Blackpool area, FY1 postcode.

Thanks,

2 possibilities spring to mind.

1, builders have damaged a cable somewhere hence the tamper.

2, batt has failed, this also causes the tamper problem as the panel supply voltage from the battery falls below a sufficient level to correctly drive the electronics in the panel, when mains is restored the panel then crashes or locks up.

Best thing would be to have the system serviced and the panel batt replaced, this should correct the problem for you.

as a side note, the system should be serviced yearly at least, this would have avoided the problem you're suffering from.
