A1 alarm panel code change ?

Featured Replies

Yes i know i know :-(

Another project for the weekend, bloody DIY panels, "Oooh I've lost the manual!"

Hi There

I saw your message . I have a A1 Intruder alarm too. A couple of days ago it started to go off for no reason and then switched to the 24Hr LEDS mode.

I have no idea whyand how to fix it .

Can anyone give me soem advice ?

Many thanks

Looks like myt A1 Advantage zx6 has developed the same problem - it sets off intermittantly every few days (sometimes OK for over a week) whether it is set or not. If set the outside bell also sounds - otherwise just the indoor one. The 24 hour LED remains on - however this is not the problem as it also goes off with the 24 hour circuit disabled with a short btween the terminals. Interstingly, it only goes off around midday - Never any other time. I've checked all the obvious to see if something could affect thhis, but can find nothing.

I must say, I've been very pleased with this panel - where else can you get one that's easy to install, easy to use and VERY reliable - this has given nearly 11 years service, without me even having to take the cover off until recently. I've never changed the battery or anything - there's a thought - could it be the battery?

Unless someone can come up with something, I'm looking to change the panel - I'm looking at the ADE's, Scantronic or Pyronix - I accept everyone has their favorite, but does anyone have a suggestion.

Many Thanks.

Yes, on your next panel, check the battery at least once a year, and replace it every 3-4 years!! :)

Hi,

Thanks - I've checked the battery and it still shows 12.6 volts - should I be checking anything else on it?

Do you think this is my problem and should I change it?

Did you check the battery without mains to the panel, to see if the battery can support the alarm? Having voltage does not mean that the battery has sufficient amps to power the panel. If the battery has never been changed then it DEFINITELY has had it and must be replaced. It could have also damaged the panel.

I don't know the panel, but you can see what everyone thinks of it. Change the battery and see if the fault clears.

Thanks Zak - surprisingly the battery supports the alarm (without mains) for several hours without a problem.

I appreciate other people's comments about the panel, but I'm sure most people would agree that this is an exception. Whilst I'm happy to upgrade it if necessary, I'm also happy to keep it if it works. Battery change seems a good idea!
